Exercise 23: Selective Processing and Prominence

The aim of this exercise was to use one image and then using digital processing methods, make two new versions of the image. The first of these has a greater prominence, the second image with less prominence for the subject.

A Nikon D800 camera and a Nikon 24mm-70mm lens were used during this exercise.

This image was taken in London, at Camden Market. The internal image required a high ISO. The lady walking towards me was the subject I was focussing on.

It was a fairly simple task to make the subject either more or less prominent. This may work better on a landscape image, as per the example given, but due to the awful weather over the last few months I choose to shoot this at the location given.
Using Lightroom I used the exposure, shadows and highlights tool and then dodge and burn using the highlight brush.
