I watched a program called ‘Celebrity Exposed’ which I
recorded from ‘Sky Arts 1’. This program was about the photographer ‘RichardYoung’ and his reflections on 40 years of capturing the rich and famous.
Richard Young was born in London and attended a Jewish
school in Stoke Newington. He was thrown out of school, and then travelled to
Paris and New York before finally taking a job in a London bookstore. Through this
job a career in photography started, in the main by meeting various contacts.
Over many years he has photographed a varied selection of
celebrities, including Paul Getty Junior (which shot him to fame), Elizabeth
Taylor and Richard Burton. This led to working on ‘Ritz’ magazine with DavidBailey.
The stand out quote during the program was such a basic and
simple quote. ‘Being polite, my Dad told me to always say please and thank you’.
This attitude has helped Richard Young to become one of the most famous
photographers in London.
